Working Groups

Within SCOTS’s structure there are two types of groups: Working Groups and Sub Working Groups.

The Working Groups undertake the work of developing and delivering key business requirements and the actions and outcomes which will achieve them.

Roads

The SCOTS Roads Group’s purpose is to engage with industry and academia and share good practice across roads authorities in Scotland on all aspects of road maintenance and management.

Bridges

The Bridges Working Group’s purpose is to improve the acquisition and exchange of knowledge and good practice in the management, design, construction, repair and maintenance of bridges, culverts, road tunnels and retaining walls.

Street Lighting

Comprised of lighting professionals from the 32 local authorities, the SCOTS Lighting group aims to share issues and best practice on design, delivery and maintenance on road and other forms of lighting.

Performance and Benchmarking

The Performance and Benchmarking group ensures that meaningful indicators are in place to allow authorities to monitor the value of services provided.

Flood Risk Management

The Flood Risk Management group provides a network to share good practice between local authorities and the wider flooding stakeholder community.

Traffic and Road Safety

Working group for road safety and traffic management professionals from local authorities across Scotland to discuss issues that affect them.

Transportation

The Transportation Working Group brings together officers working on Transportation Planning matters across the 32 local authorities and seven regional transport partnerships.

Training Partnership

The Training Partnership Working Group co-ordinates road worker training across Scotland.

Asset Management

The SCOTS Roads Asset Management Group’s purpose is to manage delivery of the SCOTS Roads Asset Management Planning (RAMP) project.
